New Defibrilator In The Village

We now have our fourth AED Defibrillator in the village. Financed through Mochdre Community Council. Successfully installed and commissioned at the ‘Barber Code’ Barbers. ‘Emergency Ready’.
Mochdre Community Council would like to thank:
Barber Code for fully supporting the project
Jack Proffit of JP Electrical for installing the Defibrillator free of charge

Chris West of the Welsh Ambulance Services (Save a Life Cymru) for the support received and commissioning of the Defibrillator.

Landlords, Ben Rob Estates, for allowing the installation to happen

Mochdre Community Council have taken over the management of these defibrillators, ensuring they are ready to save lives. A team of ‘Guardians’ will routinely check and replace parts as needed, keeping the units fit for service to save lives.

The Mochdre Village 24/7 Defibrillator sites are:

Corner of Bryn Marl Road and Conway Road (former Meat on the corner)

Between Ann’s Café and TN Robinson on Conway Road

Mochdre Sports Club, facing the pitches.

Barber Code, Conway Road. Opposite the green, off Fford Y Maer

In case of a suspected cardiac emergency, ring 999 and they will tell you the location of the nearest AED Defibrillator to you and its access code. We will be offering training sessions in the near future, but the Defibrillators come with clear, simple instructions on how to use them.

Merchant Navy Wreath

Sunday 7th September, Councillor Price, Community Councillors Shimmin & Munro were in attendance of the Merchant Navy Remembrance Service held at Llandudno War Memorial. A special Tribute was made to six young boys aged 15/16 from North Wales who made the ultimate sacrifice whilst serving on board merchant ships during World War II. They were just six of over five hundred youngsters who died at sea, the youngest being aged 14 years old from Hull.

Merchant Navy Day is officially commemorated in the UK every year on September 3rd. It honours the brave men and women of the Merchant Navy who kept Britain supplied during both World Wars and continue to play a vital role in transporting 95% of the UK’s trade today.

The date was chosen because on September 3rd, 1939, the passenger liner SS Athenia became the first British ship sunk in WWII, just hours before Britain declared war.

Councillor Price laid a wreath on behalf of Mochdre Community Council and Mochdre community.

Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch 2024

Mochdre Community Council's Christmas lunch for the senior citizens in the village was a great success! We had a good turnout, which was nice to see. Many thanks to Dan at The One Stop Shop who contributed towards the raffle hamper and Mochdre Sports Club who donated £50 towards the proceeds. The raffle raised £203 for St Davids Hospice. It was a brilliant effort and they were very grateful. The winner of the main prize (a hamper) was Melanie Derbyshire.
